✽ Normalizing

  •  The main purpose of normalizing is to refine  the grain structure, eliminate coarse grain growth, and reduce internal stresses caused by forging , rolling or casting 
     

     

  •  Process used in Normalizing  

     The metal is heated to a specific temperature , and held at this temperature for sufficient time to allow the component's internal structure to transform fully into a uniform austenitic phase.
    Then, normalizing involves cooling the part in still air at room temperature.

  •  Result 
     

     The resulting microstructure is generally finer and stronger than annealed steel , but not as hard as quenched steel.

✽ HARDENING         TEMPERING

  •  
     

    A specialized process that enhances the durability and performance of your metal components.

  • Hardening / Quenching   

     The steel is heated to a high temperature (usually 800°C- 900°C). The metal is held at this temperature for a sufficient time to allow the austenite formation to complete. The part is rapidly cooled by plunging into medium like-oil , water , polymer.

  •  Tempering
     

     The quenched part is reheated to a specific lower temperature, typically in the range of (150°C-650°C) . The part is held at tempering temperature for specific duration. The part is cooled down, usually still in air.
